something that can last forever

At the age of 36 while completing his training as a neurosurgeon, Paul Kalanithi was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer.  

One moment, he treated those who were dying.  Another moment, he was the one being treated.  

He shared his words in a book, When Breath Becomes Air, as he processed his coming death.

As I re-read through the book recently, the following sentence stood out to me, “Words have a longevity I do not.”

Words are overwhelmingly powerful.  They live longer than we do.  They create. They inflict pain.  They lift spirits.  As the writer of Proverbs expresses, they carry life and death.  

Choose your words wisely and richly.  They’re likely to outlast you.
