MOVE

MOVE

There is a scripture in Exodus that, to me, speaks as loudly now as it did then.

The Israelites are on the move, having left Egypt but Pharaoh has decided to chase after them.  Israel has reached the sea and they cannot cross.  Pharaoh’s army is getting closer and closer as the people complain to Moses that they would rather be slaves in Egypt than be slaughtered in the wilderness.

Moses is understandably in peril, not just from Pharaoh’s army but also from his own people.

And then the Lord speaks to Moses words that still echo and hold true when we find ourselves at an impasse we can’t cross. When we have come to the end of ourselves.  When we have done everything to walk in His footsteps but come up against a wall, or a sea.

“Why do you cry to Me?  Tell the sons of Israel to move forward.”

There’s a time for prayer and there’s a time for action.

If we’re willing to walk into the unknown, I believe that God is willing to part the sea.

But the first move is ours. And it’s not complaining. It’s not saying it’s impossible. It’s not sharing the difficulties.  And sometimes, it’s not even praying.  It’s simply... moving forward.
