The Question of Every New Year… To Make Resolutions or Not
I’m a big ‘goal’ guy. I love setting goals and making resolutions. And I love opportunities to do so such as on my Birthday or for the New Year.
Like many, I’m not always great at keeping my resolutions. As Tony Robbins shares, “By the first week in February, 85% of people who set a resolution have already broken it and most break it within a week to 10 days.”
Tony goes on to say, “Traditionally, most people, if they set goals, they are at the beginning of the year. They are New Year’s Resolutions, but they’re not resolutions. When you’re resolved, resolved means you’ve cut off anything other than what you’re committed too. If you’re resolved, you have a plan and some action.”
I think there is something simple that can actually put the resolution and goal into action. So simple yet so challenging… it’s called a habit.
It’s a lot fancier to declare a resolution than a habit but its daily habits that will ultimately get you what you want.
