I’ve been writing it my whole life

I’ve been writing it my whole life

Sometimes people will ask me how I come up with something to write every week.  The thing is, yes, I wrote it this week but also… yes, I’ve been writing this my whole life.

As Whitney Cummings (comedian) says, “My work isn’t done tonight.  My work was done 3 months ago, and I just have to show up.”

When we’re writing something or sharing something with another, your thoughts likely didn’t originate today.  They’ve been shaped over time.  By where you grew up, who your family is, what you’ve studied and read, who you’ve listened to, and on and on.

When I write a blog, I may have read the quote today, like the one above from Whitney.  But then it stirs in me a history of things I’ve been processing in my own life.

And that’s what comes out.

Everyday, we’re becoming a little more of who we’re ultimately going to become.

And when people ask you, “How did you write this?”  You can say, I’ve been writing it my whole life.
