what makes life worth living
As I race through life… pondering what I will do next, what life will be like in 5 years, if I’m saving enough money, if I have the right job, what changes I should make in life…
I ponder this line from Carl Honore’s book In Praise of Slowness, ‘All the things that bind us together and make life worth living – community, family, friendship – thrive on the one thing we never have enough of: time.’
The things racing through my life each day are mostly… about me.
My job.
My money.
My future.
And yet, I may be missing out on what actually makes life worth living, which are the relationships that interconnect us. A friendship. A neighbor. A sister. A brother.
And the value of each of those doesn’t come automatically, they come and thrive with… time.
