As the great thinker CS Lewis said, “If I am a grass field – all the cutting will keep the grass less but won’t produce wheat.  If I want wheat … I must be plowed up and re-sown.”

I often think if I get rid of the bad in my life, the bad habits, the sinful tendencies, and all of that… then I will be good.  I will grow. I will harvest.

But the error in that thinking is that I must plant a seed to grow.  I must water that seed to harvest.

It’s not getting rid of bad that creates good.  It’s planting seeds.  Planting seeds of hope.  Planting seeds of joy.  Planting seeds of peace.  And as those seeds are watered, they will grow into something beautiful.
