When you open the text of the Bible or another set of ancient writings, you’re not just having a conversation with the author, but of centuries of readers thereafter.

It’s a conversation with scholars and teachers and students such as ourselves. 

Theologies and ways of life are developed and expressed through the meditation of those writings. 

And we sit and listen, not just in the presence of the author but of the thousands of scholars and teachers and editors and translators that came subsequently. 

And in another 100 years, someone may very well be living out your meditations of today.
