Silence > Noise
“They made noise but silence would have been more helpful.” – Jerry Sittser
When someone is hurting, it’s natural to want to help. It’s natural to hold out a hand. It’s natural to share some advice.
But often, what’s most helpful isn’t one’s advice. It’s one’s presence.
It’s sitting.
It’s listening.
It’s giving space for the grief, the hurt, the hopelessness.
For some journeys, advice doesn’t help. But having someone simply walking alongside you does.
