the moments that define us aren’t the easy ones

the moments that define us aren’t the easy ones

We have a tendency to want the easiest path. We look for shortcuts. We look for the least painful way.

But the easiest path rarely gets us what we actually want.

It’s the trials, the heartache, the challenges that create and shape who we are.

It’s the moments that actually cause us to get off of our current path, the moments that keep us from coasting through life, the moments that thrust us forward into a new way of living.

As Erwin McManus shares in The Last Arrow, “The moments that will actually define us and create for us the future we have longed for are not the ones that easily integrate.”

It’s those disruptive forces that shape who we are, challenge the way we live and think, and give us the opportunity to step onto a new path to what we long for.
