yes is the easy part

We’re often told that if we want something, we have to ‘go get it.’  We have to say ‘yes.’  We have to take the opportunities laid out before us.

And although I agree with all of those things, there’s something more challenging.  It’s the ‘stuck against the wall part.’  It’s the ‘writer’s block.’  It’s the being told ‘no’ part.  

Saying ‘yes’ doesn’t complete a task. It starts one.  And along the way, we are bound to come up against resistance. It’s in that resistance that we go from saying ‘yes’ to knowing what ‘yes’ actually means.  And what ‘yes’ often means is overcoming a lot of ‘no’s.
