gospel of the unknown wind

Ecclesiastes 11:4 states, “Whoever watches the wind will not plant; whoever looks at the clouds will not reap.” 

It’s not hard to find a reason to put something off or to not do it all. There’s always a reason, always an excuse.

Maybe there’s a lack of support. Maybe you’re waiting on a sign from above. Or maybe life has thrown you an unfair curveball. 

If we plant something or start something, maybe the wind will blow it over. Maybe it will fail. 

But regardless of the reason, whatever we fail to plant, we will certainly fail to reap.

But if you plant and it does fail, you will have learned something along the way which is more than you can say if you continue watching the wind.

So plant.  And plant again.  And keep planting.

Because as the writer of Ecclesiastes goes on to say, “Sow your seed in the morning and at evening, let your hands not be idle for you do not know which will succeed or whether both will do equally well.”

In other words, when there’s a reason to not get up and get started, go ahead and get up and get started.  And when there’s a reason to not stay up and continue, stay up and continue. 

Plant.  Plant again.  And keep planting.
