a broken heart
It’s a good thing. A broken heart that is.
Not something you look forward to.
Not something you want.
But something that reveals your ability to look beyond yourself and give your heart and affections to another.
As CS Lewis said, “Love anything, and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one.”
It certainly doesn’t feel good to have your heart broken or wrung. But I sure wouldn’t want to keep it intact either.
Here’s to a broken heart. And probably to another. And probably another after that.
And in that, a heart available to love is revealed.
