seeking glory

Most would encourage you not to seek glory. 

But I disagree. 

There is glory to behold. Glory to be had. 

But it is not the glory of victory. Nor the glory or riches and fame. 

It is the glory within one’s self when one knows they have given, win or loss, rise of fall, everything within them.  One of the definitions of glory is to take great pride or pleasure in. 

You don’t need another’s affirmation but the knowledge that you’ve given everything within yourself.   

It may not get you on a pedestal. It may not get you acclaim. But it will give you a satisfaction within your soul that you’ve achieved the ultimate prize, being all you were created to be. 

As the runner Eric Liddell (best known from his story, Chariots of Fire, where he refuses to run at the Olympics on a Sunday) said, “In the dust of defeat as well as the laurels of victory there is a glory to be found if one has done his best.”
