the sting of death
“O Death, where is your victory? O Death, where is your sting?”
To talk about death to the one who believes in the hope of the resurrection does not sting at all.
To actually experience death, whether you believe in the resurrection or not, is completely different.
To speak of death not stinging is foolish. To overspiritualize would be silly.
To lose a loved one is quite possibly the worst sting one can experience.
The one who doesn’t receive the sting, is the one who has crossed to the other side.
For those clinging to the hope of the resurrection, the fear of death has indeed lost its grip, but the experience of death grips tighter each loved one lost.
The one who actually ‘knows’ death’s defeat… is the one who has died themselves. The rest of us continue to sting.
RIP Daniel Murembu. We love you.
