gospel of waiting… BUT...
1 Samuel 10:7 Once these signs are fulfilled, do whatever your hand finds to do, for God is with you.
We live in a (Christian) culture where we wait to hear from God. We wait to make a move. We wait to for God’s voice.
And don’t get me wrong, there is plenty of time and space in a believer’s life to do just that… wait.
But there is also time and space to ‘do whatever your hand finds to do.’
As you read through the story of David in 1st Samuel of the Old Testament, you will find time and time again of where David is waiting on God. And you will also find time and time again where he continues to fight battles and move forward.
Sometimes we don’t need the voice of God. We simply need to act.
Rather than making a “calling” a regiment of do’s and do not’s…
Make a “calling,” simply to do. To simply go. To simply be. Be who you are. Follow your passions. Do what you love.
I am often around young believers who are debating a decision such as where to serve in the church, in the community, overseas… who to partner with, who to do community with… what to do and how to do it. As they ‘wait’ and as years go by, I cringe and I encourage them to just simply ‘do.’
As Tim Keller eloquently puts it, “God’s guidance is more something God does than something God gives.” Which means… “You’re standing in it. You’re being navigated.”
As you stand at forks in the road, as you make ‘easy’ choices, and as you make choices that will determine the paths your life takes… know, that you are God’s anointed, you are God’s chosen, and you are standing in a River of guidance. Step on out in it, and "do whatever your hand finds to do."
