gospel of character

gospel of character

I would argue that the hardest thing to build is not a monument, a statue, or a building.  It’s not the Pyramids or the Great Wall.

It’s something built inside of you.

It’s character.

As choices swirl in our heads.  And words so loosely sit on our tongues.  And temptations abound at the click of a button.  And bitterness creeps from within our souls…

I’m reminded of how difficult it is to build… character.  And how easy it is for one’s character to completely fall with one choice, one decision.

But that ‘one’ decision is likely not made in that moment.  It’s made in all the small moments and choices made each day, where we lay a foundation and brick by brick, become who we are.

When we build that kind of character, no matter what comes at us or is thrown at us, we cannot be torn down.  Because our character is something that resides inside of us.  Character can fall apart much quicker than it can be built.

You can fool others with a reputation.  But you can’t fool yourself.  Only you know what you’ve used to build the inside of you.

If you want to leave a legacy.  If you want to build something that matters.  Start by building inside of you.
